this is what you do when you’re sick.

In between bouts of concentration-loss, I’ve been working on work. But just to see if my brain was functioning at all, I did this:

In 2m 52s

Now, that time would be better if I was a decent typist. Does it help that I named them in left-to-right order?

Anyway, i’m fighting through a wicked sinus headache right now. I’m able to walk, though, and I might just be teased out of my apartment to pick up a package that arrived at a store for me. We’ll see if I feel well enough, though – goodness does my head hurt. It is no fun to create a hundred radio buttons when your head hurts like this. Luckily, since I’m home, I can just lie down when it gets to be too much.

I really want to knit. My hands aren’t up to it though. Not to mention the only thing I’ve got active on the needles involves a mile of applied i-cord… I have to think for that. I’m still to out of it to think.

Well, maybe I’ll try to get the rest of these dang radio buttons done (creating a form), and then nap a little. And maybe if the weather clears up, go pick up my package. That is certainly blog-worthy. ;-)

I are teh sick :(

I can hardly type right now. I had to go home early from work. I probably won’t make it in tomorrow either. i feel like hell and i have no voice.

Luckily a sympathetic V-man drove all the way up here to bring me soup and hugs. It helps :)

Too sick to knit. Bed now.

Finishing

This has been a weekend of finishing. I finished four knitting projects! The Saturday market gives me time to do that… that’s just about the only benefit of it right now. But I won’t get into that.

First is my autumn wheat sox:

Autumn Wheat - Side View Autumn Wheat - FO

Next is a little something I whipped up for the niece-in-progress:

Niece's first socks - little flowers

The third, well I can’t show it because it’s a test knit. ;-)

But the fourth – it’s not done yet, but it will be – is my easy-peasy hat:

Easy Peasy hat - short rows

I’m just getting through the short rows on the ribbing to make it longer in the back. I’m going to short row it in the other direction next to make some earflaps. Or really, more ear-covering things. Not quite flappy. :)

Now I have to figure out what next to do. i have a bunch of old sleeping projects on the needles – I really do want to finish all of those. But I also have so much pretty stuff in my stash, and a new baby to knit for. Oh, the torture! And speaking of stash, I have this:

STR - Knitters Without Borders

I remarked when I bought it how it was such a great V-man color, and naturally when I brought it home he said “Wow, what a great color!” so, we know what this will be. hehe. But it’s getting towards the season where he’ll be wearing thinner socks, so there’s no pressure for now.

But.. that still leaves me stuck! I want to cast something on tonight… or maybe I really should just stick to what’s already in progress. I still have to do the i-cord border on the Lisa Shrug, and there’s a pair of gloves that needs to have the fingers re-done. Not to mention that giant obnoxious blanket…. the chenille monstrosity that I haven’t touched in months.

Speaking of months, how is that I’ve been at KP for two months already?! where did the time go, seriously? It’s going to be May, like, this week. Then I’ll be buying a flying car, because I’ll be 50 and we’ll have them by then. hehe.

Speaking of cars, mine doesn’t fly but she did get her first bath today! Also I should be passing 1000 miles tomorrow or the next day. Not bad for only two and a half weeks…. Sheesh.

Speaking of sheesh, I bought more nail polish today. And not the inexpensive drugstore variety either:

New polish...

Two look identical in the bottles, but as anyone who likes to do a french manicure regularly can tell you, looks can be deceiving. They have the same base, but one is much pinker when dry. Anyway, I’ve been desperately hunting the perfect French base color for a while now. I like something that’s opaque, but as closely matches my natural color as possible. This is as close as I’ve found! It’s totally worth it to find the right color, even if it is $8.50 a bottle.

Manicure - Oh yeah!

Well, I think the pollen and the craziness of the last couple of weeks has finally caught up with me… I have a sore throat. :( I dumped some turmeric on my dinner tonight, and I’m going to load up on vitamin C. Oh, I have oranges! I might just go have one of those right now in fact. But it’s a miserable feeling to be sure. I really can’t afford to miss any work or anything because of this. I’ll make sure I get plenty of some sleep tonight.

I’d talk about the yarn harlot’s visit, but I think it’s been so well summed up elsewhere that I don’t need to just yet! And as for my bad behavior, well, I guess you had to be there! ;-)

no matter what they say…

Don’t believe it. I don’t care what they say about me. I’m a normal, modest, quiet and respectful person. Teh intarwebs, they lie! I never did anything to call attention to myself. As if! You can’t prove anything.

snicker snicker ;-)

It’s a girl!

Not that I didn’t intrinsically know, I mean, it’s a woman thing. But I’m getting a niece! my very own little minion life to corrupt enrich. It’s a special job to be an auntie, and well, I’m …special. Now I can start making frilly, ruffly, girlie-tastic pink things – yay! I’ve been waiting for that signal to begin my knitting craze… and now I know, and I have 4 months or so to prepare. Geez, only four months! Aye carumba.

In other news, the PDXKB pins that I’d been working on came in today – and they look awesome! I took a picture, but I’ve been too busy to get it uploaded. I’ve been preparing for the Yarn Harlot’s visit tomorrow – making sure I’m bringing enough knitting, my camera is charged, and I’ve got a very flat friend to bring along. You’ll just have to wait and see!

Well, it’s nearly 1 am. I’m so damn tired. I need to start sleeping regularly.

What a day!

THe View from up here

there have been so many folks posting views from their windows, I had to join in. I happen to think I have a darn good view from either end of my apartment – so you’ve got some from both ends! ;-)

but first, my window to the world:

Porthole

textured sky rolling in Glistening Sheers pink puffs

I could keep going, hehe. I take a LOT of photos out my bedroom window – I love my view, and I get a great shot of the sunset every night. Like right now… my room is golden-glowy. Sigh. It’s going to be very bittersweet to leave here. I really feel blessed to live in such a pretty place.

And I HAVE been knitting – I swear! i’ve used up most of my knitting mojo on work stuff – lots of knitting. Holy cow.

One project is sooper seekrit, so I can’t show that. I can show my progress on my easy-peasy hat though:

Easy Peasy Hat - almost done

Because my head’s so darn big, I won’t have enough yarn for a long hat, so I’m just going to short row it to make it long enough for my ears. Good enough for me. Heck, the whole thing is just a diversion anyway. Don’t really care how it looks!

I’m painfully close to the end of my Autumn Wheat Sox:

Autumn Wheat Sox - home stretch

Why is is painful? Because I have too much to knit for work and I can’t get to the remaining 11 rows. Argh!

Hopefully seeing the Yarn Harlot tuesday will be a perfect opportunity – not only can I not work on work stuff there, but using BMFA at a BMFA sponsored event – good idea. ;-)

And I couldn’t resist – I got even more Stitchjones yarn at last week’s PDXKB get-together!

Stitchjones Dyepot BFL - Tea Rose Stitchjones Dyepot BFL - Solid Gold

That’s ‘Tea Rose’ and ‘Solid Gold’ BFL. LOVE! they’ll be so pretty together!

Well, speaking of pretty, the last light of day is beckoning me outside. I must oblige.

:)

What the hail?

The hail was the size of runts candy.

April is so weird here.

As fun as watching dirt grow

So i got these cute little seedling pots at Target. They came with dehydrated soil – just add water! And guess what? When you do, it looks like poo. (don’t mind the office banter)

Besides that, I had a whole week of math and swatching at work this week. I’m working on three projects at once (big surprise!). Honestly, it’s a whole lot better than 15 at a time! Speaking of those 15 – if you get the knitpicks email newsletter, you’ll see 14 of them very soon. :)

i wore a skirt and stockings to work today, and of course promptly ran said stockings. So, on my lunch break I took a wild journey to JC Penney to get some new ones. Much cursing when I discovered upon my return to work that even the amazon-sized hose don’t fit. I mean, come on! So, I started talking to a co-worker about where I might get some silicone gel caulk to make my own darn undergarments. I had started some last year, but never finished due to lack of stay-up power. I’m bound and determined that this summer I will have my very own custom things.

I just have to say that I hate pantyhose, stockings and tights in general. I can’t stand shapewear. All of these things are designed to mould your body into some odd shape and ‘smooth out’ your flaws. Screw that! all I want is to keep my thunderthighs from rubbing raw. I don’t need to pinch, tuck, smooth, lift or flatten. I’m tired of wearing all of these store-bought things tucked into my bra (because that’s just how high the rise is). So, I’m going to make myself some low-rise bike shorts and other things to act as my anti-friction devices. I have bathing suit liner material already; all I need is a pattern. I think I’m going to try to find a swimsuit-bottom type pattern and just give it longer legs.

Well, that said, I was thinking of stopping by Fabric Depot on my way home, but I didn’t – and i’m glad I didn’t. I got home (late, of course, since it’s Friday) and paid some bills – and found that I really couldn’t live much longer with my old, crazy Brita faucet. I needed a new one right quick – and I wouldn’t have had the money if I’d gone to FD. So, I have a new faucet (no more showers when I use the tap!), no new fabric, and I’m ok with that. I will still have to go to FD or the Mill Ends place some time soon – I have lots of costumes to make for PAX. And, now that it’s warming up (ok, in theory at least), it’s time for some skirts.

I do hope that I can drop the water weight I’ve been lugging around. I think it’s starting to go away now that I’ve improved my work-food diet at least a little. But, with that gone, I can fit better into the stuff I already have, lessening my need to make more stuff. Because I just don’t really have time, after all! ;-)

Well, i’m nodding off… no new knitting news to report, but hopefully some tomorrow!

My car has some commentary on the day.

To AM traffic:

Goin' to work - FU!

FU!

To going-home:

Thumbs up for the ride home

thumbs-up.

I’m glad my car feels good about being home. :) She still doesn’t have a name yet… soon. Maybe when she gets some plates.

Anyway. Work has been pretty crazy, I must say. There’s a lot going on…  but luckily I do have a little wiggle room in some of the things I’m working on. It’s going to make it so much easier to get it all done, what with the pressure being relieved at least a little. :) Not to mention the stuff I’m working on is so darn cool. I wish I could talk about it!

Since I can’t, I’ll tell you about what I’m knitting outside of work. I got the sleeves done for the Lisa Shrug:

Lisa Shrug - Pieces done!

And I’ve unraveled the cast-on from one so as to begin the I-Cord.

Lisa Shrug - sleeve

so, finally nearing the end!

I haven’t finished my Autumn Wheat socks yet, though I’m darn close. I started the short rows to get the sides as high as the top. When that’s done, all there is to do is the roll brim – 12 rounds of stockinette. Woo! I also decided that I needed a break from small things and grabbed a ball of Rowan Big Wool out of the stash:

Easy Peasy Hat - Crown

Certainly not the most amazing thing ever, but the monotony and speed is kind of nice right now. ;-)

Ok, i need to be in bed. Peace out, cub scout.

There goes the neighborhood….

YarnHo has WHEELS!

My new Baby!

here's lookin at you

The man who conned me out of $28k… ;-)

The man who sold me the darn thing

And hey, screw the Hokey Pokey – THIS is what it’s all about!

makes it look like a sportscar, hehe.

CUSTOM LEATHER YEEAAAAAHHH!!

Oh heck yeah.

We’re such a happy family now…

Blurry, but there :)

Our kids get along great!

The Kids

*sigh*

It only took three and a half years, right? Now I can finally really go ‘splorin.

:-D
