Down with the Sickness

Ugh. I have the plague.

Ok,  not the plague that’s going around (at least I’m pretty sure), but I am still sick. Yuck yuck. Luckily when I woke up today, besides having some wicked sinus issues, I was feeling ok. I actually managed to get a bunch of housework done, which pleases me immensely.

So, on my needles – well, not a whole lot. I’ve been doing so much at work, and it doesn’t seem like I’m making much headway, so I’ve had to take some work home with me. But, when your homework looks like this:

Homework

It’s not so bad. But I don’t have time at home to work on it, either. Yikes! I hope this week I won’t be as sick-headed and can really power through some of this. Land sakes. I can’t even begin to describe what’s on my plate already.

I had intended to take some model shots of the Boring Charcoal socks on the V-man’s feet, but he walked off with them. At least he likes ‘em! They look like they fit him just fine.

I did do some spinning and plying last weekend. It’s been sitting abandoned on its bobbin all week.

It’s the Pretty Lady roving. It’s not even remotely balanced, and so is quite kinky – hopefully I can fix that with some hot water! The color is coming out rather more muted than I expected, but I’ll wait till I knit it up before I really say anything there. There was another colorway of her roving that was very similar except that instead of violet it had meduim-dark purple – I might get that too and ply it together. I think my mom would like it either way, but I’d like to see some more dramatic color shifts.  But that’s just me :)

Oh, I did knit a second bear mitt this week. It’s bigger than the first one. Oops! But, I don’t think the bear is going to mind too much. I do hope I can make a few more – I really enjoy the speed and simplicity of them, not to mention the fact that I’m using up what’s left of my acrylic stash and it’s going to a good cause. That’s just good for all involved.

Well, not much else to report here! Hopefully I’ll be able to get through this week with better results than last week.

going, going, going….

I totally feel like the energizer bunny, except I have crappy half-powered off brand AAAs in me right now. I keep going, but man am I running out of steam. Work has been crazy, to say the least, I’ve been sick, and I’m still working on three freelance projects. Not to mention Saturday Market….

Somehow I have found the time to get some knitting done, though; I finally sucked it up and finished the Boring Charcoal Socks:

The cuffs look pretty short… I have yet to see them on V-man’s feet, but I should tomorrow. Hopefully they fit ok. :)

I’ve also taken up my needles for the plight of the Sun Bear – you can read all about it here. (it’s sad, just to warn you.) I’ve finished one mitten so far:

And another is about halfway done. It’s on my foot in that pic… that’s one giant mitten! But, they’re a quick knit and I’m using up some old acrylic (they pretty much have to be acrylic) junk I still had laying around. So, we all benefit here.

Other than that, I’ve hardly knit at all besides work stuff. The office move (which, I’m pretty sure, is why I’m sick) took a ton of my time away from what I was supposed to be working on. Unfortunately, being the new gal, I was already unsure of my priorities to begin with, so now I’m sort of in a bind. Hopefully I can get everything done in time without losing my mind. Hopefully.

Well, I’m sure there’s more I wanted to say, but I’m tired and coughing like mad, and it’s pouring out. I think it’s time to hit the hay.

Diving through the wool

I’m taking a break right now. It’s supposedly my lunch break, yet my lunch is only about 5 minutes long. So, I have 55 minutes to hang out and do whatever. Include blogging :)

I’ve been diving through wool for the last couple of days. The office is moving, and I’ve been taking inventory of what we have here in the office. It’s been a welcome diversion from pattern errata, I can promise you that.First Day Socks - glamour shot 2

The heels look awesome:

What I think is really interesting about these is that all of the pooling took place on the instep – the sole is all one-row stripes. How odd! I really like them, though I wish I’d decreased a little more at the ankles.

*insert argh – my site went all bonkers while I was writing this, so I lost the rest of the post… I’m finishing it now that I’m home.*

So I finally picked up the Boring Charcoal Socks again. I’m about two inches into the ribbing now. I don’t think they’re going to be very tall – maybe 5″ of rib.

I also messed up the heel; I started the gusset too far down the foot, and so they didn’t really increase as much as they should have. Because of that the heel flap is really short, and there’s much less room in the heel-to-ankle diagonal than I had hoped. They still fit V-man, albeit tightly, and he said he’d still wear them. So I will power on. I hope to have them off the needles this weekend. Sooner if possible! Why, pray tell?

Because – what could possibly be better than this colorway?

V-man yarn

I’ll tell you what – Its name.

He got his own colorway!

I sincerely hope that V-man is as chuffed as I am. I can’t wait to make him socks out of his own colorway! And special thanks to Sharon for doing such an awesome job. YAY!!

I also have to thank Bobbie and Tool man for my brandy-new spinning chair – I haven’t taken a pic of it yet, but I’m so excited to have a chair that fits! Wooooo!

Not to mention, I can’t wait to see the photos she has of all of us knitbloggers stroking, petting, licking and otherwise doing lustful things with Sharon’s new yarns. Of all she brought, I think she went home with one skein. Hehe ;-) Not bad!

Well, I actually brought some work home with me tonight (the office is not a concentration-friendly place what with all the moving), so I’m going to go do a little of that and just have a nice relaxing evening. :)
